The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus, the Ukrainian company Motor Sich, and CJSC Systems of Investments and Innovations have signed an investment agreement on the modernization of the Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant, BELTA was informed by the Aviation Department of the Ministry of Transport. The document was concluded during the visit of the company's management to Minsk. According to the signed investment agreement, the modernization of the Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant will be carried out in several stages. It is expected that in the future, a multimodal transport and logistics center will be established on the basis of the enterprise. The construction of a modern warehouse terminal and office buildings, which will house customs services, a bank, and a leasing company, is planned here. The project envisages the construction of a hotel and a cafe for aircraft crews and road carriers. The new transport and logistics center will be located at the intersection of the 2nd and 9th international transport corridors. The airfield, located near the Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant, is capable of receiving aircraft of almost all types, and railway tracks are also located nearby. In the future, the new logistics center will be able to handle cargo flows from different countries, including China. As reported, at the end of last year, the President signed a decree on the alienation of the state block of shares of OJSC Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant. The state block is fully sold to investors: CJSC Systems of Investments and Innovations becomes the owner of 1,488,171 shares, and PJSC Motor Sich is sold 2,232,256 shares (about 60%). Investors undertake to invest at least $12 million in the reconstruction and modernization of production facilities within 2012-2016. By April of this year, a comprehensive concept for the creation of a logistics center using the capabilities of the Orsha airfield must be submitted to the Council of Ministers. -0-
