Mid-year results at Lepel District Department of Internal Affairs: stability in security and an increase in certain crimes

Based on the results of the work for the first 6 months of the current year, the organizational and practical measures taken have maintained control over the operational situation in the district, prevented the commission of high-profile crimes on the territory of Lepel district, and ensured public safety and law and order.

During the current period, the following were not committed: intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm (2024 – 1), rape, extortion, robbery (2024 – 3), aggravated robbery, theft from clothing and hand luggage, theft from cars, theft of mobile phones (2024 – 3), and vehicle theft. Positive dynamics have been achieved in referring citizens to medical and labor rehabilitation centers – 16 individuals were referred in the first half of the year (2024 – 15).

The number of grave and particularly grave crimes remains at the same level – 15. However, throughout the first half of the year, a negative trend of an increase in the total number of registered crimes persists in the dynamics of crime rates (+17.9 percent, from 84 to 99). The crime rate per 10,000 population was 32.9 percent, which is slightly lower than the regional average. The number of crimes committed by minors (from 1 to 5); by a group of persons (from 2 to 4); while intoxicated (from 16 to 19); in public places (from 5 to 19); by previously convicted persons (from 17 to 23) has increased. In addition, an increase in thefts has been registered – from 18 to 28. In May-June of the current year, the number of hooliganism incidents sharply increased (from 1 to 4), and all suspects have been identified. Regarding road safety: the situation on the district roads has become more complicated. In 2025, 6 road traffic accidents were recorded (2024 – 5), in which 3 people died (2024 – 0) and 7 people were injured (2024 – 5). An increase in the number of traffic accidents has been registered: involving minors (from 0 to 2), due to driving into the oncoming lane (from 1 to 2), failure to observe the right-of-way at intersections (from 0 to 2), and as a result of hitting an animal (from 0 to 1). During the current period of 2025, no crimes have been recorded on railway transport facilities in the territory of Lepel district.
