Underwater hunting

The Lepel Inter-district Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora hereby reminds you!!!

Amateur fishing by means of "Underwater hunting" is carried out in fishing grounds of the reserve fund, as well as in fishing grounds leased exclusively for commercial fishing:

on the basis of a valid membership card of the RGOO "BOOR" and a certificate of entitlement to underwater hunting (when carried out) if these citizens possess them while in fishing grounds at the place of fishing and can present them;

on the basis of a receipt or card-check, in electronic form or on paper, indicating the methods of amateur fishing and the validity period of the right to carry out amateur fishing by these methods.

Payment shall be made before the commencement of amateur fishing. The amount of payment is determined by the RGOO "BOOR".

Underwater hunting is carried out during daylight hours in fishing grounds, the list of which is determined by decisions of regional executive committees in agreement with the territorial bodies of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

A certificate of entitlement to underwater hunting is issued by the RGOO "BOOR" or its organisational structures.

When carrying out underwater hunting, the angler is obliged to preserve the caught fish until the end of the underwater hunting.

Underwater hunting is prohibited:

using aqualungs or other autonomous breathing apparatus;

during dark hours;

within 50 metres of designated swimming areas, mass recreation areas for citizens and areas for water sports, and within 150 metres of established commercial fishing gear;

using a speargun and/or pistol that shoots a harpoon with more than 5 prongs;

If underwater hunting is carried out by persons who have documents confirming the payment for the right to carry out underwater hunting, a certificate of entitlement to underwater hunting is not required.

Therefore, when engaging in underwater hunting, anglers must carry with them in fishing grounds, at the place of fishing, a valid membership card of the RGOO "BOOR" and a permit for underwater hunting when carrying it out, or a document confirming the payment for the right to carry out the specified methods of amateur fishing, which can be presented upon request.

The Lepel Inter-district Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora reminds that administrative responsibility is provided for violation of the requirements of the Rules of Amateur Fishing.

Information on the list of fishing grounds where underwater hunting and (or) trolling from vessels with engines during daylight hours is permitted is posted on the website of the State Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora under the President of the Republic of Belarus.
