As part of a large-scale information campaign aimed at raising public awareness about the effectiveness of using autonomous fire alarms, employees of the Lepel District Department for Emergency Situations organised information and educational stands titled "Safety Post" in grocery stores.
Representatives of the rescue service reminded citizens of the importance of observing fire safety rules, especially during the winter period, when the risk of fires increases due to the load on heating appliances. Rescuers explained what precautions should be taken when operating stoves and fireplaces, as well as how to avoid overheating of electrical wiring.
In addition, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations paid special attention to the installation of autonomous fire alarms. They explained how this simple and affordable device can save lives and property. They emphasised the importance of regularly checking the operability of the alarms and replacing them as needed.
– The main task of the alarm is to detect smoke at an early stage of ignition and emit a loud audible signal. This gives you precious time to wake up, assess the situation, and take necessary measures: evacuate, call the rescue service, or try to extinguish the fire if it is safe to do so, – explained representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Along with food products, people took away useful safety knowledge. As a reminder, they were given thematic leaflets with important recommendations on life safety.
