To prevent fires and fatalities, employees of the Lepel District Department for Emergency Situations organised informational and educational stands named "Safety Post" in grocery stores.
Representatives of the rescue service reminded citizens of the importance of observing fire safety rules, especially during the cold season when the risk of fires increases due to improper heating. They explained how to properly use heating appliances, what precautions should be taken when operating stoves and fireplaces, and how to avoid overheating of electrical wiring.
– When using stove heating, it is necessary to ensure that the stove is in a fire-safe condition: a non-combustible floor mat of at least 50x70 cm must be attached in front of the firebox door, there should be no through cracks, and the chimneys in the attic must be plastered and whitewashed. The stove heating time should not exceed three hours, – the rescuers noted.
In addition, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations paid special attention to the installation of autonomous fire detectors. They explained how this simple and affordable device can save lives and property. They emphasised the importance of regularly checking the operability of the detectors and replacing them as needed.
– Such events contribute to raising the public's awareness of safety rules. This is an important step towards creating a safer environment for all residents of our district, – emphasised the employees of the district department for emergency situations.
