A polyclinic, kindergartens, and family-type children's homes – these are some of the new social facilities to be opened in the Vitebsk region in 2024, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
"The work of the region's social sector organisations is aimed at ensuring social standards and improving the quality of services for the population. In 2024, efforts to implement the state programme 'People's Health and Demographic Security of the Republic of Belarus' will continue. The construction of a new polyclinic will commence in the 'Aeroport' microdistrict of Polotsk, and the reconstruction of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital and the second building of the Regional Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital will proceed. In the healthcare sector, plans include updating the ambulance and medical transport fleet, purchasing medical equipment, and installing and commissioning angiographic systems, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) scanners," the Regional Executive Committee noted.
Regarding the education sector, the construction of important facilities will also be undertaken. "There are 485 educational institutions operating in the region, providing conditions for children to receive preschool and special education at the preschool level. They are attended by 40.3 thousand pupils. In 2023, two kindergartens with a capacity of 200 places each were commissioned in Polotsk and Miory. This year, the construction of four preschool educational institutions in Lepel, Novopolotsk, Vitebsk, and Orsha will continue. In 2024, the construction of two family-type children's homes in Vitebsk and Postavy is also planned," the Regional Executive Committee emphasised.
