About a hundred exhibits will be presented at the exhibition "Land of Forests and Lakes", dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the formation of the Vitebsk region, at the Museum of Belarusian Book Printing - a branch of the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, the branch manager Elena Shumovich told a BELTA correspondent. The opening of the exhibition is scheduled for January 18. The bulk of the exposition will consist of printed publications - books, brochures, periodicals, which talk about the northern region of Belarus, its history, culture, prose works dedicated to the lake region, photo albums, publications about the cities of the region - Vitebsk, Polotsk, Novopolotsk, Orsha. A special place will be given to the complete collection of historical and documentary chronicles "Pamyat" (Memory), published by the districts of the region. Among the exhibits are also books - laureates of the national "Art of the Book" competitions, which tell about the region. Along with books, badges, stamps, and envelopes will be presented, which were made for memorable events related to Vitebsk region or its natives. The Vitebsk region was established on January 15, 1938. In the structure of the republic's industrial production, the region accounts for about 16%. It provides 50% of the republic's metal-cutting machine production, 29% of automotive gasoline, 41% of diesel fuel, 50% of petroleum fuel, 80% of lubricating oils, 26% of synthetic fibres, 36% of windows, wooden doors, 100% of linen fabrics, 99% of clothing and accessories made of natural fur, 98% of carpets and carpet products, 87% of optical instruments, 42% of footwear, 28% of vegetable oil, 29% of canned milk. The Museum of Belarusian Book Printing is one of the eleven museums of the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve. The museum is dedicated to the book in all its aspects, from the first handwritten scrolls to the modern book, introducing visitors to the history of writing, writing instruments, book illustration, and polygraphy. It is the only museum of its kind in Belarus. The exhibition area of the museum is 928 sq.m. The museum's exposition is located in 15 halls, on two floors, displaying 2.5 thousand museum exhibits.-0-
