On June 12, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo – BELTA /. Polotsk will share its experience in promoting the interests of people with disabilities with public organizations of Belarus, the representative office of the International Children's Fund in Belarus informed BELTA correspondent. Representatives of public organizations working with disabled people will familiarize themselves on June 12-13 with the successful experience of the public association "Cultural and Sports Club of Disabled People 'Prometheus'" and the public association "Association of Parents of Children with Disabilities 'Strumok'" in promoting the interests of people with disabilities, the realization of their rights, as well as the cultural and sports adaptation of disabled people. Participants of the training visit will attend the training "Advocacy for the Interests of People with Disabilities," take part in the opening of a Paralympic fencing tournament, and will be presented with the information campaign "46=47" and a master class on photokross. The public association "Cultural and Sports Club of Disabled People 'Prometheus'" has been creating conditions for the full functioning of disabled people in society for over seven years. The organization's achievements include the successful public campaign "Photokross" to draw public and local authorities' attention to the barrier-free environment in Polotsk, assistance in the physical and psychological rehabilitation of disabled people, encouraging people with disabilities to lead an active lifestyle, and creative adaptation. The public association "Association of Parents of Children with Disabilities 'Strumok'" was established in 1991 and unites 157 families raising children with psycho-physical developmental disabilities. The organization assists in the social adaptation of such families through parent self-help groups. One of the projects implemented by this public organization is the information campaign "46=47," designed to promote the socialization of children with Down syndrome in the Vitebsk region. The training visit to Polotsk for representatives of Belarusian public organizations involved in assisting disabled people was organized by the representative office of the International Children's Fund in the Republic of Belarus with the support of the United States Agency for International Development for people with disabilities.-0-
