"As Polotsk is the youth capital of the country, and summer is a time of bright colours, music, youth, open spaces, and street arts, we decided to combine all this into a large open-air project with the participation of poets and street musicians. At 11:00 AM, we invite all lovers of poetry, music, handmade crafts, and simply a good mood to the memorial sign "Polotsk - Geographical Centre of Europe". You can expect two hours of performances by young and talented authors, master classes in decoupage and making "shamballa" bracelets, and much more," the press service informed.
Librarians will present literary works in an unusual format through the game "Literary Puzzles" and the exhibition-recommendation "Bibliotherapy - Healing with Books". Moreover, you will be able to not only consult the "bibliotherapeutic" list but also create your own prescription for relieving summer frustration. The "Open Mic" will be an excellent opportunity to introduce the public to your works or read the works of your favourite authors. The youngest guests of the event will enjoy a fairy-tale pun, a literary mix-up, and active and board games in the open air.
The project's authors – the city's library staff – have taken into account the inseparable connection between youth and social networks, which has influenced the style of the entire event, where everyone attending that day will be able to mark their favourite activity zone with a "like". Bookcrossing, a photo zone, games, and entertainment will be additional bonuses.
And at 5:00 PM, on Skorina Square, music lovers will be treated to a continuation of the popular project "Street Musicians": the most creative and popular rock bands from Polotsk – "Версия" and "The Рынок" – will perform original songs and cover versions of world hits.
Through both projects, the organizers aim to engage youth in reading and contemporary creative trends, develop the overall culture of the population, and attract tourists in anticipation of the 500th anniversary of Belarusian printing and the Day of Belarusian Written Language.
