23 December, Vitebsk /Alena Tikhonova - BELTA/. The New Year's charity event "Givers of Happiness are Twice as Happy", which involves newlyweds as well as low-income families with children, is taking place in Polotsk. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent at the Polotsk District Executive Committee.
Young people registering their marriage during the Christmas and New Year holidays have the opportunity to share a piece of their happiness and make a gift for children from low-income families. "Information about the families is contained in New Year's baubles decorating the Christmas tree in the Civil Registry Office of the Polotsk District Executive Committee. A week before the registration, the bride and groom take one ornament from the New Year tree and thus learn for whom they will be doing good deeds. On the wedding day, the young married couple leaves a New Year's gift for their beneficiaries under the tree," the District Executive Committee explained.
It will be possible to leave a gift under the Christmas tree at the Civil Registry Office of the Polotsk District Executive Committee until January 19, 2014.
The family charity event will conclude with a festive tea party. Low-income families will be invited to a round table, where the organisers of the event (POO "Belarusian Union of Women", Civil Registry Office of the Polotsk District Executive Committee, Commission for Juvenile Affairs of the Polotsk District Executive Committee) will present them with New Year's gifts with good wishes from the newlyweds.
The New Year's charity event "Givers of Happiness are Twice as Happy" is aimed at enhancing the status of the family, providing material assistance to the needy, and preventing social maladjustment in society. -0-
