17 November, Vitebsk /Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. Half a tonne of flax shives was destroyed in a fire at OJSC "Bogushevsky Flax Mill" in Sennensky District, the propaganda and training center at the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations informed a BELTA correspondent. The report of the incident was received by the district emergency department on the evening of November 16 from a passerby who noticed a glow in the area of the enterprise. The emergency response unit that arrived at the scene discovered open burning in one of the buildings on the flax mill premises; the enterprise's voluntary fire brigade was attempting to deal with the fire on their own. The fire engulfed the roof of the flax shive collection building, covering an area of 60 sq.m. At that moment, approximately 2 tonnes of flax shives, used for firing the boiler room, were inside. About twenty minutes after the fire was contained, it was completely extinguished. There were no casualties. The causes and circumstances of the incident are being established, including why the voluntary fire brigade members did not report the fire to the district emergency department. As a result of the incident, the roof of the structure was damaged.-0-
