On October 12, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. A train driver's assistant attempted to illegally import over a hundred kilograms of clothing and bags into Belarus, the Vitebsk customs office informed a BELTA correspondent. At the "Polotsk" customs clearance point, a customs inspection was carried out on a locomotive arriving from abroad to Belarus, and on personal use items transported by the train driver's assistant. Polypropylene bags, machine-stitched, containing allegedly used clothing were found in the locomotive. As a result of the customs inspection, inspectors determined that new goods, clothing, and bags with labels and tags, totaling 323 items, weighing 127.1 kg and valued at Br72.5 million, had been imported into the territory of the Customs Union. According to customs officers, the nature, quantity, and intended purpose of the imported goods initially preclude their use by the train driver's assistant for personal needs or other purposes not related to entrepreneurial activity, which would require declaring such items in accordance with the law. As they were not declared, they are considered to have been illegally transported across the Customs Union border. The goods have been seized and are held in responsible storage pending the conclusion of the administrative process.-0-
