2 May, Polotsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Portraits of contemporary Belarusian writers should become part of the exhibition of the Museum of Belarusian Book Printing, a branch of the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve. This viewpoint was expressed by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, who held a working meeting in Polotsk dedicated to the city's preparations for the 1150th anniversary celebration and the implementation of the infrastructure development concept for the historical districts of the city, BELTA correspondent reports. "The Year of the Book will be a turning point for the museum. The only one of its kind in Belarus, it should promote books and writers," the governor is confident. In his opinion, the exhibition needs to be supplemented with portraits of Belarusian writers, including those living today. Alexander Kosinets considers it necessary to open a bookshop at the museum, where new Belarusian literature could be purchased, as well as to expand the range of souvenir products. Obtaining additional funds will allow for an increase in museum staff salaries, he stated. According to the Acting Director of the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, Tamara Dzhumantayeva, the branch currently sells about 30 types of souvenir products. Over the past four months of the current year, Br23 million worth of these products have been sold. -0-
