Sowing campaign in Belarus will start in two weeks. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy on the air of the "Belarus 1" TV channel, according to BELTA.
"Wintering is proceeding normally, except for two regions with little snow. The main task now is to prepare and accumulate mineral fertilizers. We will go to the fields in 10-15 days. Last year is repeating, when Brest finished sowing, and there was still snow in Vitebsk. Therefore, sowing in the northern and central regions will have to be carried out within a tight timeframe," Mikhail Rusy noted. "Equipment repair is underway. It is planned to complete the repayment of the fuel loan in March."
Preparations for the sowing campaign are generally on schedule. The government has instructed to take measures to ensure that at least 95% of the equipment available to agricultural organizations is ready for spring field work by March 25, for the procurement of grass forage by May 15, and for the harvesting of grain and leguminous crops, primary processing and storage of grain by June 20.
Livestock wintering is proceeding satisfactorily. "We achieved a gross growth indicator of 104% compared to January 2016," Mikhail Rusy noted. At the same time, he emphasized that the situation varies in different regions, and much depends on the human factor.
