Zaslonovskaya Secondary School Reopens After Modernisation

Today is a landmark day for the Zaslonovskaya Secondary School in Lepel District. The educational institution is being opened today after modernization in a grand, festive, loud, and vibrant manner. The capital repairs were made possible through the implementation of the second construction phase within the project "Modernization of the Education System of the Republic of Belarus".

The significance of this event is underscored by the calibre of guests who have arrived in the Lepel region today.

The event is attended by the Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Igor Sergeenko, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus, Lieutenant-General Viktor Khrenin, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, Dmitry Khoma, Head of the Main Department for Education of the Regional Executive Committee, the Chairman of the Lepel District Executive Committee, Mikhail Kiselevich, the Chief of Staff - First Deputy Commander of the North-Western Operational Command, Colonel Vadim Shadura, as well as the Commander of the 19th Guards Separate Mechanized Brigade, Guards Colonel Dmitry Burdukevich.

As is customary, the distinguished guests were welcomed with warmth and great hospitality. Subsequently, the participants of the celebration proceeded to the school's assembly hall for a round table discussion titled "We have something to be proud of, we have something to cherish".

Incidentally, the building of the Zaslonovskaya Secondary School was commissioned in 1953. Currently, the school employs 32 teachers and educates 225 students, with specialized training offered in physics, mathematics, chemistry, and biology. In 2022, 78% of the school's graduates became students of higher education institutions in medical, pedagogical, agricultural, and technical fields.

As part of the "Modernization of the Education System of the Republic of Belarus" project, modernization and capital repairs were carried out at the educational institution. The first construction phase was completed in 2021. During that period, thermal rehabilitation and facade painting works were performed, and building illumination was installed. The heating unit, fire alarm system, and video surveillance system were completely replaced. The entrance area was renovated, and windows and entrance doors were replaced.

internal doors. The assembly hall and library, restrooms, changing rooms and showers in the sports hall, and the gym have been renovated. A special restroom for people with disabilities has been equipped. The foyer has been renovated with the installation of a cloakroom for students. A preschool group for children from Zaslonovo Kindergarten has been opened on the school's premises. A group room, a bedroom, a restroom, a pantry, and a changing room have been furnished, and a separate entrance has been organised. Plumbing equipment, furniture, blinds, children's beds, bedding, soft furnishings, and play equipment, among other items, have been purchased using funds from the local budget.

As part of the 2nd construction phase, 1500.0 thousand rubles were allocated from the republican budget, and another 170.0 thousand rubles were provided from the regional budget. Local budget expenditures amounted to 200.0 thousand rubles. The total investment sum is 1870.0 thousand rubles.

To date, the school building has had its windows and internal and external doors replaced, electrical work completed, a fire alarm system installed, suspended ceilings and roofing with additional insulation fitted, a fire alarm system installed, floors repaired, interior finishing carried out, the school grounds fencing replaced, and pavements and hardstanding areas landscaped.

Further plans for the district include renovation work for the 3rd construction phase, with an estimated cost of 1830.0 thousand rubles.

At this stage, renovation work is required for the school canteen and sports hall. A number of landscaping works for the adjacent territory are also planned. These include the construction of a vehicle access road, volleyball and basketball courts, a running track, a play area for primary school children, and the installation of 3D mesh fencing for the football field.
