"In accordance with the documents adopted in Geneva in 2006, Belarus switched off analogue broadcasting on May 15 this year. Thus, we have fulfilled our international obligations regarding the transition from analogue to digital broadcasting in the relevant frequency bands. However, there were also analogue frequencies not covered by the Geneva agreements. These have been switched off since January 4," explained Viktor Zaitsev, Head of the Television, Radio Communication and Broadcasting Sector of the Electrosignalisation Department of the Ministry of Communications and Informatisation.

"This deadline was set taking into account public opinion, which required time to purchase the necessary equipment and ensure a smooth transition to digital TV. Considering the festive pre-New Year broadcasts, we decided to switch off the last analogue transmitters not in the final days of 2015, but from January 4, 2016," added the specialist.

From January 4, 2016, in the Brest region, the programme "RTR-Belarus" on the 3rd television channel (TVK) will be switched off at the Baranovichi Automatic Radio and Television Transmitting Station (ARTPS). At the Posenichi ARTPS (Pinsk), "Belarus 1" on the 4th TVK will be switched off, and at the Stolyn ARTPS, "Belarus 1" on the 2nd TVK will be switched off.

In the Vitebsk region, the switch-off will affect: at the Vitebsk Radio and Television Transmitting Station (RTPS), "Belarus 1" on the 2nd TVK will be switched off; at the Braslav ARTPS, "STV" on the 3rd TVK will be switched off; at the Ushachi ARTPS, "RTR-Belarus" on the 5th TVK will be switched off; and at the Obukhovo ARTPS (Orsha), "STV" on the 3rd TVK will be switched off.

The switch-off of analogue TV transmitters in the Gomel region will occur at the Gomel RTPS (where "ONT" on the 3rd TVK frequency will be switched off), at the Smetanichi ARTPS ("Belarus 1" - on the 5th TVK), and at the Mozyr ARTPS ("RTR-Belarus" - on the 3rd TVK).

In the Grodno region, at the Grodno RTPS, "Belarus 1" on the 3rd TVK will be switched off; at the Svisloch ARTPS, "STV" on the 1st TVK will be switched off; and at the Lyubcha ARTPS, "Belarus 1" on the 2nd TVK will be switched off.

In the Mogilev region, at the Polykovichi RTPS (Mogilev), the programme "Belarus 1" on the 4th TVK will be switched off, and at the Krichev ARTPS, "RTR-Belarus" on the 2nd TVK will be switched off.

In the Minsk region, "Belarus 1" on the 1st TVK and "RTR-Belarus" on the 3rd TVK will be switched off (at the Kolodishchi RTPS), and "Belarus 1" on the 3rd TVK frequency and "RTR-Belarus" on the 2nd TVK will be switched off (at the Dubyei village RTPS in the Soligorsk district).
