The potential of the deputy corps must be fully utilized, stated today the Chairman of the Council of the Republic, Mikhail Myasnikovich, at a meeting with deputies of the Kalinkovichi, Loev, Oktyabrsky, and Rechytsa district councils of deputies, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"The potential of the deputy corps must be fully utilized. This is where I see the main goal of our meeting. There are 19,000 deputies in the country. This is a huge force and the best people in our country," said the Chairman of the Council of the Republic. He recalled that deputies are entrusted by the population. Therefore, they must ask themselves questions: how effective is our work, to what extent has it met the expectations of our voters, the population?
"Sometimes one hears that voters are remembered on the eve of elections. This is not true. There is a system of working with the population in the country. It is functioning and quite effective, structured both vertically and horizontally. But life is diverse. People's demands are constantly changing. Therefore, the authorities must continuously improve their work with the population to be aware of all the problems that exist in everyday life and at enterprises," added the speaker. He noted that often, when seeking solutions to certain tasks, reliance is placed on experts and various specialists, however, without considering the opinion of the population, the solution may be "largely virtual."
According to Mikhail Myasnikovich, a deputy is a link between the authorities and the people. "This link must be strong," emphasized the Chairman. Deputies also need to be in close contact with local executive authorities. If there is no mutual understanding between the local executive committee and the council of deputies, there may be "unnecessary losses," believes Mikhail Myasnikovich. He added that "a deputy should not overlook the shortcomings that exist in the work of an enterprise administration or colleagues."
Mikhail Myasnikovich announced that on February 9, he will participate in the session of the Gomel Regional Council. "There will be a serious discussion about the situation and shortcomings in the work of the Gomel region," he said.
