Summer moribund phenomena are typically observed during the hot season (June-July) with high water temperatures in water bodies heavily overgrown with blue-green algae, which give the water a deep green colour. The more silted the water body, the worse the conditions for fish. In addition, as a result of flooding of river floodplains caused by torrential rains or floodwaters during the summer period, fish kills may occur due to the decay of flooded vegetation. Of particular danger is the inflow of swamp and industrial wastewater into water bodies, which can lead to mass fish mortality. Waters flowing into fishing grounds from swampy areas contain a large amount of organic matter and are poor in dissolved oxygen.
In case of detection of signs of pre-moribund phenomena or facts of fish mortality in fishing grounds, please report to the Lepel Inter-district Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora (8 (0232) 3 43 59, 3 43 85).
