October 1, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Enhanced environmental quality coefficients have been established in 17 settlements of the Vitebsk region, BELTA was informed by the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties for the Vitebsk region.
Property tax and land tax rates are set by district and city councils of deputies. For the calculation of property tax, district and city executive committees establish environmental quality coefficients, which take into account changes in property value depending on its location in a specific settlement: distance from the centre, transport accessibility, provision of social infrastructure facilities, environmental and other factors affecting living conditions. For rural settlements, the environmental quality coefficient is typically 1.0. In 13 district centres and four cities of the region, the environmental quality coefficient is above 1.0. The application of coefficients has allowed for an additional Br1.1 billion in property tax to be calculated for the budget.
The total amount of accrued property and land taxes from individuals amounted to Br47.1 billion. Br23.1 billion will actually be received by the budget. The remaining amount of Br24 billion is attributable to individuals entitled to tax relief in accordance with the legislation. In addition, 79 individuals have been granted relief by decisions of local authorities.
The region has approximately 325,000 property taxpayers and 336,000 land payment taxpayers registered, which constitutes 28% of the region's population. Compared to 2011, the number of property taxpayers and accounted properties for this payment has increased, while the number of land taxpayers and land tax properties has decreased.
The region's tax service draws the attention of citizens who own, use, possess, or lease land plots, as well as households, summer cottages, garages, and other structures, to the timely payment of accrued and payable amounts of property tax and land payments to the budget. The legislation sets the payment deadline as November 15. -0-
