Dear compatriots!

Dear compatriots!

I wholeheartedly congratulate you on the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

On this sacred day, we are filled with a special sense of gratitude to the liberator soldiers and home front workers who defended the freedom and independence of our Motherland in a brutal struggle against Nazism. The May 9th holiday is inextricably linked with the glorious generation of victors who, sparing no lives, saved the world from the brown plague, defended the Fatherland, and then selflessly raised the country from ruins and ashes. The feat of the Soviet people will forever remain in the memory of all mankind.

Today, we also mourn the immeasurable sacrifices of the war. We are united by the bitterness of loss that affected almost every family. Millions of lives, endless hardships and losses were paid for the Great Victory. Belarusians will always gratefully remember those who endured severe trials, fighting fascism at the front and in partisan detachments for the sake of peace and good.

The unparalleled heroism shown by the older generation during the difficult years of the war will continue to serve as a moral compass for our youth. This Victory gave us the opportunity to live and work peacefully for the benefit of our native Fatherland.

Bright memory to those who did not live to see this bright day and fell on the battlefields. A deep bow to the veterans for your resilience, courage, and heroism in the fight against fascism.

I wish everyone good health, well-being, and long life.

Alexander Lukashenko.
