A fire in the dormitory of the agricultural college of the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine caused the evacuation of 50 people, the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations informed a BELTA correspondent. Late at night, the operational control centre of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a report from the duty officer about a fire in dormitory No. 1 of the agricultural college, located in the village of Luzhesno, Vitebsk district. The fire broke out in a room on the second floor of a four-story brick building; heavy smoke was observed on the second and third floors. The tenant of the room, an employee of the junior staff of Vitebsk City Clinical Hospital No. 1, was not injured and left the premises on her own. The cause of the fire and the damage are being determined. Another fire occurred the previous day in dormitory No. 1 of KUP "Orshakomkhoz" (Baran, Orsha district). Here, the suspected cause of the emergency was carelessness while smoking by an intoxicated tenant born in 1972, who was rescued by employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
