During joint preventive work to prevent fires and deaths from them in the housing stock in the Vitebsk region, as well as with the aim of strengthening law and order, preventing offences committed by citizens in a state of alcoholic intoxication, and increasing the fire safety level of the housing stock of citizens leading an antisocial lifestyle, Lepel rescuers and employees of the district internal affairs department visited the households of categorised citizens daily in operational groups from January 13 to 31.

As part of this work, the public was informed about the state of life safety, and the consequences of non-compliance with fire safety rules, leaving children unattended, and alcohol abuse were explained. Special attention was paid to the proper functioning of stove heating, electrical equipment, and autonomous fire detectors. The attention of local executive and administrative bodies and other interested prevention entities was drawn to the need for regular and targeted work to ensure life safety in the respective territory, including increasing the level of fire protection of the housing stock. During this period, 55 raids were conducted, during which 441 households were visited, 837 people were instructed on compliance with fire and public safety rules, and violations of fire safety rules were identified in 427 households and apartments. The owners of these households and apartments were recommended to implement 507 measures aimed at preventing fires. At meetings of councils of public law and order protection points, 72 individuals were considered, 4 of whom were sent to a medical and labour dispensary by court decision.
