Twenty people were evacuated from a residential building in Dokshytsy last night due to heavy smoke, the press secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Marina Fando, told a BELTA correspondent. At 1 a.m., the operational control center of the Dokshytsy District Department for Emergency Situations received a report of a fire in an 18-apartment residential building in the district center. Bedding was burning in one of the apartments. Firefighters evacuated 20 residents of the building and rescued a 24-year-old woman who was in the unfortunate apartment. She was taken to the district hospital by an ambulance with a diagnosis of mild poisoning from combustion products while intoxicated. After medical examination, the victim was discharged home. According to neighbors, the woman was consuming alcohol. The suspected cause of the fire is carelessness while smoking in a state of intoxication. As a result of the fire, bedding was damaged in the room, the floor burned through over an area of 0.5 sq. m, and the walls were smoked. Over the past three days, 10 fires have occurred in the region, resulting in two deaths. Two people were rescued by the Ministry of Emergency Situations personnel, 20 people were evacuated, and one person was rescued by the public.
