An autonomous fire alarm (AFA) saved the life of a lonely pensioner from Liozno district, the press secretary of the Vitebsk region Ministry of Emergency Situations, Marina Fando, told a BELTA correspondent. The fire occurred on the evening of March 29 in the village of Star. The man heated the stove and went into another room, and after some time heard the AFA signal. Going into the kitchen, he discovered a fire of property and firewood near the stove. After unsuccessful attempts to extinguish the fire himself with improvised means, the elderly man went to his neighbors to call the Ministry of Emergency Situations employees.
