As part of the republican campaign "Safe New Year!", employees of the Lepel District Department for Emergency Situations visited the "Svetlitsa" 24-hour care unit for the elderly in the village of Kamen.

Certainly, the pensioners from the 24-hour care unit are supervised most of the time, however, some of them return to their homes or move in with relatives during the spring-summer period. Therefore, it was not superfluous to remind them of the basic safety rules.

Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations held a discussion on the fundamentals of life safety, emphasizing that the pre-New Year period is accompanied by a sharp increase in the number of fires and injuries due to violation of fire safety rules when preparing for the holidays.

Next, the rescuers invited the pensioners to independently identify violations on a stove model, and by illustrating a household situation that could happen to any housewife in the kitchen, they clearly showed how to extinguish food left on the stove.
The meeting also featured the main symbol of the New Year – "Fire Safety Grandfather Frost". The cheerful grandfather immediately attracted the attention of the event participants with engaging contests. With great pleasure, the campaign participants chose safe items for decorating the Christmas tree, played the "Believe - Do not Believe" game, and guessed New Year's songs.

At the end of the meeting, in addition to safety rules, the staff of the Kamen House of Culture presented the attendees with a concert program, along with a boost of positive emotions and good cheer. The Ministry of Emergency Situations staff, in turn, wished everyone good health and adherence to safety rules.
