For children, holidays are a wonderful time that every child eagerly awaits. For adults, however, this is a time of concern and great responsibility. After all, the most important thing is to prevent anything from happening to a child. Therefore, the Lepel District Department for Emergency Situations suggests we once again recall the dangers that may lie in wait for children and try together to avoid trouble.
For children, holidays are a wonderful time that is so eagerly awaited by every child. For adults, however, this is a time of concern and great responsibility. After all, the most important thing is to prevent anything from happening to a child. Therefore, the Lepel District Department for Emergency Situations suggests we once again recall the dangers that may lie in wait for children and try together to avoid trouble.
The first danger is fire. For the Ministry of Emergency Situations, fires in which children die remain among the most alarming. The main cause of fires with child fatalities, as practice shows, is the carelessness of parents who leave them unsupervised and children's pranks with fire. Adults sometimes do not even think that by leaving children, even for a short time, they are risking their lives. Of course, no parent wishes harm upon their child, but in most cases, tragedies involving children are due to ordinary adult carelessness. For example, in 2022, 627 people died in fires, including 14 children whose lives were claimed by fire. To protect your children's lives, you must not forget that the responsibility for a child's prank or
carelessness is borne, first and foremost, by adults. The main thing to explain
to children is that matches and lighters are for household purposes, but not for play.
Even a small spark can lead to a big disaster anywhere, at home or on the street. Pay attention to explaining
the dangers of experimenting with flammable liquids: tell children that they should not check the presence of gasoline in a canister with matches and
stage "circus shows" by igniting aerosols and sprays. Teach your children
skills of proper behavior in case of a fire. Take a few minutes
to learn the emergency service numbers with your child, tell them
about the rules of behavior in case of detecting the smell of smoke or fire. Explain
to them that in case of fire, it is necessary to run outside and call for help. Under no circumstances should they hide. And, most importantly, under no circumstances should you leaveminors unattended! Parents should also remember that
criminal liability is provided for improper maintenance of children
in accordance with Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus "Endangerment".
The eternal enemy of fire is water. But it can also pose a danger. Winter
has almost given way to spring, the weather is absolutely unstable. But the ice
on the river still seems strong. Dear parents, explain to your children that they
should not go to water bodies without adult permission. You should not approach water bodies
with melting ice, and it is also forbidden to ride on ice floes.
Very often, children like to find quite interesting places for
games. It is not uncommon for children to play in quarries. Rescuers remind that
quarries are not a place for games. You should not dig trenches and crawl spaces in the sand,
as it can collapse. You should not be on unstable and loose soil,
approach the edge of the quarry. It is forbidden to approach operating quarry equipment.
Explain and tell your children these simple rules.
It is strongly discouraged to play near railways or roadways,
as well as to go to wastelands, abandoned buildings and landfills.
While doing household chores, do not forget that a child should not
be left to themselves – you should know where they are and with whom they are playing. If it
concerns young children, there is only one piece of advice – do not leave them unattended
even for a few minutes.
Dear parents! Holidays are a wonderful time for rest,
positive emotions, vivid impressions. But this is also the most dangerous period for
children. Therefore, do everything to protect your child from trouble.
Try to make your holiday as safe as possible, be near your children and
take care of them!
