The Government has recommended expanding support for students using public transport. This is provided for by Resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 58 of 26 January 2016, BELTA was informed by the press service of the Belarusian government.

The document amends Resolution of the Council of Ministers of 16 February 2011 No. 202 "On certain issues of student travel".

The adopted resolution expands the recommended norms for social support of students receiving general secondary and special education when travelling on public transport during the academic year. This refers to trips from their place of residence (place of stay) to their place of study and back. If previously these government recommendations were addressed to regional and Minsk city Councils of Deputies, now they will also apply to district Councils.

The list of transport types to which social support mechanisms apply has also been expanded. Now they will also apply to students travelling on regional economy class trains, as well as on regular suburban public transport.

It is assumed that decisions of the Councils of Deputies on supporting students when travelling on public transport will be made if funds are available in the local executive and administrative body.

The resolution will enter into force after its official publication.
