The Government of Belarus is working to identify factors for wage growth. This was stated by the Minister of Labour and Social Protection, Irina Kostevich, on the ONT TV channel, as reported by BELTA.

"Today, the government has launched work with each state administration body, and regional executive committees have already launched work at the enterprise level. The main thing is to identify the growth factors – by what means the growth of the wage level will be ensured," said Irina Kostevich. "The government has been working on this for several months to truly identify the growth factors, not to unbalance the economy, but at the same time to ensure the solution of the set task," she said.

Answering a question about state targeted social assistance (GAS), Irina Kostevich noted that this system has been established in Belarus, and there are five types of social support. "But not every citizen can receive this state social support, I want to note. There are certain filters," the minister reminded. "For example, if you are of working age, but you are not working and not registered as unemployed, then you cannot claim a monthly social benefit today."

According to Irina Kostevich, this system can be further improved. "Today, strict filtering is in place to determine if this citizen truly needs state social assistance; it is all legislatively established and works well. Undoubtedly, there are also problems in this practice, there are issues that life itself generates, and this system can be improved," she concluded.
