On May 24, Minsk /BelTA correspondent/. The festive concert "Polotsk is my memory and pride..." will officially open a series of events dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of Polotsk. The concert will take place on the afternoon of May 25 on Polotsk's main square, Freedom Square, as reported to BelTA by Yulia Viskub, press secretary of the Ministry of Culture of Belarus. The concert will feature the Belarusian State Ensemble "Pesniary", Honoured Artist of Belarus Inna Afanasieva, the National Academic Folk Choir of the Republic of Belarus named after Tsitovich, the Belarusian State Honoured Choreographic Ensemble "Khoroshki", and the vocal ensemble "Chisty Golos". On the same day, the ensemble "Khoroshki" will give a concert on the main city square. The programme includes pieces from the creative team's golden fund, staged by People's Artist of Belarus Valentina Gaevaya, which have become part of the treasury of Belarusian choreography, as well as the best instrumental pieces and songs performed by the orchestra and solo vocalists. Artists of the ensemble "Khoroshki" will take part in a ceremonial procession through Polotsk in costumes of the 16th-17th century nobility. The concert "Golden Collection of Belarusian Song" on May 26, on the main concert venue of the city on Freedom Square, promises to be a true celebration of song and poetry. It will feature popular performers and ensembles of the Belarusian pop scene. Famous songs by Belarusian poets and composers will be performed: "Rodny moy gorod", "Zavirukha", "Zavarozhanaya feya" performed by the ensemble "Verasy"; "Pakh chabarovy" performed by the ensemble "Charawnitsy"; the renowned "Zavushnitsy" by Vladimir Muliavin; "Yanka Kupala", "Belyavaya, charnyavaya", "Kasiv Yas konyushynu" and others. The creative project "Golden Collection of Belarusian Song" was first implemented in 2011 on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture of Belarus with the aim of developing contemporary Belarusian pop music, supporting and popularising Belarusian songs and the Belarusian word.-0-
