Today, in the Orsha district, the sowing campaign in the Vitebsk region began with the folk ritual "Zasevki". This is a celebration of the future harvest, in which the Chairman of the Lepel District Executive Committee, Mikhail Kiselevich, also took part.

This ritual contributes to a prosperous agricultural year and has been traditionally held for many years.

During the event, folk songs and incantations were heard – those that accompanied our great-grandfathers when fields were ploughed by horses and sown by hand.

In our time, modern equipment is used, which helps agricultural workers grow a good harvest and eases their labour.

We all understand the importance of the spring sowing campaign, the importance of laying the foundation for not only this year's but also next year's harvest in a timely and high-quality manner: fertilising winter crops, sowing spring grain crops and corn. Agricultural workers face a large volume of work, preceded by serious preparation of both equipment, seeds, and human resources.

Traditionally, the first seeds of the new harvest were sown into the ploughed land by the head of the region, Alexander Subbotin, and other distinguished guests.
