On 9 July, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Representatives of political parties and public associations constitute 47.8% of the members of the district election commissions for the elections of deputies to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the fifth convocation in the Vitebsk region. The personal composition of the commissions was approved today at a joint meeting of the Presidium of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies and the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
There will be 14 district commissions operating in the region, with 13 members each. Alongside party members and members of public organisations, representatives of work collectives and citizens who submitted applications were included in the commissions. Their share in the total number of commission members is 14.3% and 37.9%, respectively.
87 candidates from political parties and public associations were included in the commissions, including 17 from parties. The Communist Party of Belarus is represented by nine people, the Belarusian Party of Leftists "A Fair World" by four, and the Republican Party of Labour and Justice and the Belarusian People's Front by two each. Of the eight public associations whose representatives were included in the commissions, the largest membership is held by the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus and the public association "Belaya Rus".
The proportion of civil servants among the total number of members of the district election commissions is 10.4%.
As noted by Vladimir Terentyev, 243 people applied for membership in the district election commissions. "When forming the commissions, the business qualities of the candidates and their experience in election commissions were taken into account, so that the work of the commissions would be carried out in strict accordance with the legislation," emphasised Vladimir Terentyev.
The personal composition of the district election commissions will be published in the local media within the next few days. The first meetings of the commissions, at which chairpersons, deputy chairpersons, and executive secretaries will be elected, will be held no later than 11 July. -0-
