7 May, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. An automobile rally dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus will take place in the Vitebsk region today, BELTA was informed by the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The event will commence in Freedom Square in Lepel following a rally with the participation of representatives of local authorities, veterans, the public, and youth. Participants will lay flowers and wreaths at the graves of those who perished during the Great Patriotic War. In a solemn ceremony, young people will be presented with Pioneer ties and BRSM membership cards, as well as vouchers for the third labour semester. Subsequently, as part of an automobile convoy, approximately 400 schoolchildren and students from the Lepel district will travel by bus to the Ushachi district to the "Breakthrough" memorial complex, where events with the participation of local residents and youth are also planned. Delegations from Chashniki, Polotsk, Ushachi, Vitebsk, Glubokoye, and Postavy districts will join the automobile rally.
The automobile rally is being held on the initiative of the Lepel District Organizational Structure of DOSAAF with the support of the Department of Ideological Work, Culture and Youth Affairs, the Department of Education, Sports and Tourism of the Lepel District Executive Committee, as well as the district executive committees whose delegations are participating this year. The event is intended to foster patriotic education among youth and aims to preserve the memory of the feat of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War.-0-
