– Hello, we are conducting a preventive raid to remind you of fire safety rules when burning plant residues and making bonfires, – senior inspector of the supervision and prevention sector Pavel Zhernousek addressed the man.

– I know and observe all the rules, – the man assured. – I chose a spot specifically in the garden, where there is no vegetation, my shed is made of brick, but the distance to it is still safe. Here I have a rake and a bucket of water. I don't leave the bonfire for a minute...

– That's right, and after finishing burning, be sure to douse the bonfire remains with water until smouldering completely stops, – reminded the rescuer.

However, there were also those who considered the precautionary measures excessive. In the neighboring plot, rescuers saw a bonfire left unattended. The owner of the property was busy with other things at that time.

– Why are you not nearby and observing? A fire could start! – Pavel Andreevich made a remark.

– Well, I periodically come up and check... The fire is in a barrel, I don't load it to the top. I also connected a hose with water in advance, so I can extinguish it immediately if anything happens... – the owner began to justify himself.

– Nevertheless, fires must not be left unattended under any circumstances, – the inspector urged the man to be cautious.

Having reminded the careless homeowner of fire safety rules, the rescuers handed out leaflets "Useful Tips from the Ministry of Emergency Situations". Similar leaflets were given to all homeowners whom the Ministry of Emergency Situations employees met during the raid.

Remember that fires are allowed to be made only in calm weather. In this case, the fire must be located at a safe distance from buildings, having been dug around.

If the fire gets out of control, immediately call the emergency services at 101 or 112.

For burning dry grass, offenders face administrative responsibility and a fine ranging from 10 to 30 base units.
