Meetings between the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alyaksandr Kosinets, and chief editors of mass media, representatives of services directly involved in the production and distribution of print media, and the production of TV and radio programs, have become traditional on the occasion of professional holidays – Press Day and Radio, Television and Communications Workers' Day. The head of the region oriented the journalists of the Vitebsk region not only towards comprehensive coverage of current events but also towards in-depth analysis of all aspects of life in the regions and the country, and the joint resolution of existing problems with authorities. Special attention should be paid to the implementation of social and economic development programs at the local level. The critical potential of mass media needs to be activated, with analytical depth, accuracy, and effectiveness of such publications being and remaining the main evaluation criteria.
One should not forget about the pressing issues of ensuring people's livelihoods, wages, and price policies. The institution of family should be strengthened by all means through diverse educational methods, and the enormous harm caused to society by drunkenness should be demonstrably shown. The appeal to journalists to support the development of business and entrepreneurship, especially in small towns, as this is one of the real ways to improve the standard of living in rural areas, sounded organic at the meeting. And at the same time, it is important not to forget that journalistic word must be objective and truthful; informing the population about the processes occurring in the regions, on the whole, shapes the image of the region, the head of the region emphasized.
Alyaksandr Kosinets presented the chief editor of the newspaper "Lepelski Krai," Uladzimir Shauchenka, with a Diploma of the Regional Executive Committee to the editorial team for first place in the regional competition of print mass media for the F. Skaryna prize in the nomination "Best District Newspaper," and a statuette depicting F. Skaryna.
