On September 6, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Teachers from Victor Hugo Lyceum in Nevers (France) will hold a creative meeting with French language teachers of the Vitebsk region today, the BELTA correspondent was informed at the Vitebsk Regional Institute for the Development of Education, on the basis of which this event will take place. The creative meeting is dedicated to the topic of fostering students' readiness for oral foreign language communication. Colleagues from the two countries will discuss the most pressing issues they face in teaching schoolchildren and will offer their vision for resolving these situations. The study of the work experience of French educators is of great interest to teachers in Belarus, opening up opportunities for finding new forms and methods in the implementation of school foreign language education, which ensures the implementation of a personality-oriented approach to learning. As emphasized at the Institute for the Development of Education, there is currently a trend in foreign language teaching towards the use of authentic teaching materials, both as an additional source of information and as a primary textbook. Western educators offer not only rich practical material but also an extensive theoretical base, the terminology of which must be mastered for successful work with practical material. "Today, it is not enough to 'know' a foreign language, it is not even enough to actively master it; it is necessary to navigate freely in another cultural space, to be able to interact with native speakers of another language and culture, acting as an equal participant in the dialogue of cultures, a thinking, free, and constantly developing personality," the specialists noted. -0-
