A two-day press tour dedicated to the upcoming holiday – Airborne Forces and Special Operations Forces Day – started today in Vitebsk as part of a Ministry of Defence project, a BELTA correspondent reports.
A grand event will take place in Minsk on July 29, with the direct participation of servicemen from the 103rd Separate Guards Order of Lenin, Red Banner, Kutuzov II Class Airborne Brigade named after the 60th anniversary of the USSR. Journalists are visiting it today. About 20 journalists from republican media outlets, including correspondents, operators, and film crews, have been invited to observe their training, experience the physical demands firsthand, and get a taste of service in the airborne troops.
On the first day, journalists visited the brigade itself: they toured the Hall of Military Glory, the barracks, and learned about the daily life and routine. They then witnessed the servicemen's training, including the completion of various standards, a demonstration of BTR-80 driving, and also tried their hand at the parachute tower and the high-altitude complex trainer. Next, they will travel to the Losvido training ground for live firing practice and an overnight stay. There, on the second day, guests will learn about the specifics of tactical training, reconnaissance operations, and will have the opportunity to practice shooting exercises at the range. Finally, the most prepared journalists will undertake a parachute jump (solo or tandem) at the "Kukovachino" aeroclub.
