The Prosecutor's Office of Lepel District, in a field court session, supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against the chief veterinarian of an agricultural enterprise in Lepel District, who is accused of exceeding official powers.

As established during the court investigation, the accused, while holding the position of chief veterinarian at an agricultural enterprise and being an official, clearly exceeded the rights and powers granted to him by his service. Specifically, acting out of mercenary and other personal interest, expressed in a desire to avoid material and disciplinary liability for the unsatisfactory organization of work related to the preservation and production of cattle, to embellish the actual state of affairs at the enterprise, and to avoid reprimands, criticism, and adverse service consequences in the form of accountability for the deterioration of indicators for non-productive cattle disposal, in January 2025, while at his workplace and other locations within Lepel District, intentionally, contrary to the interests of service, knowingly aware of the illegality of his actions, instructed a subordinate employee to slaughter one head of cattle and to draw up an act for the disposal of the animal. Subsequently, by deceiving a representative of the "Lepel District Veterinary Station" Medical and Preventive Institution, he obtained a veterinary certificate and later, using the aforementioned documents, sold the deceased animal to the slaughterhouse of the procurement department of the Vitebsk Regional Consumer Union Lepel Branch.

The accused fully admitted his guilt in court and sincerely repented of the committed crime.

Taking into account the evidence presented by the state prosecutor, the Lepel District Court rendered a guilty verdict. Pursuant to Part 2 of Article 426 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, the man was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment, without a fine, and was deprived of the right to hold positions related to the performance of organizational, administrative, and economic duties, as well as the performance of legally significant actions, for a period of 2 years.

In accordance with Part 1 of Article 77 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, the court has granted a deferral of the execution of the main and additional sentences of imprisonment and the prohibition of holding positions related to the performance of organisational, managerial and administrative-economic duties for a period of 2 years.

The sentence has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed or protested.
