The presidential campaign in Belarus complies with international election standards. This opinion was expressed on the air of the programme "Main Air" on the "Belarus 1" TV channel by Austrian sociologist, Doctor of Political Sciences Christian Hoepfer, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"The electoral process, the collection of signatures in support of candidates are very peaceful, we do not hear any complaints from the presidential candidates and their teams. That is, this is a successful campaign that meets international election standards. To date, there have been no disturbances, violence, or illegal actions, so my impressions are very positive," noted Christian Hoepfer.
He also emphasized that Belarus has managed to build an independent state, which is accepted into the UN, the Council of Europe, is a respected member of the international community, and demonstrates to the whole world a strong civil society and strong state institutions. "Belarus shows everyone that it is possible to live side-by-side and in peace with huge countries, without creating difficulties and problems," stated Christian Hoepfer.
