Our newspaper has featured this girl more than once. Winner of the 17th International Competition of Children's, Youth Amateur and Professional Creativity "Rose of Winds—2011" in Moscow, Grand Prix of the 3rd Open Competition of Young Performers of Popular Song "New Names. Junior," participant of the main country's New Year tree ceremony at the Palace of the Republic… Young singer Yana Strelchenko repeatedly draws attention to herself with her achievements. This year, she became a scholarship holder of the special fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the Support of Talented Youth.
Eleven-year-old Yana, a pupil of 6 "A" form at Secondary School No. 3, has her every day scheduled. From Monday to Saturday, she attends classes at the Lepel Children's Art School in two departments – choreography and music. Svetlana Shestalo teaches her choreography, and Tatyana Ermolovich, with whom the girl has been studying vocals and piano since she was four, teaches her vocals and piano. The teacher travels with her student to all concerts and worries backstage. Her mother, Svetlana, also supports her daughter at performances.
One of Yana's recent victories is second place in the "Popular Vocal" nomination at the international festival of children's and youth creativity "Rainbow over Vitebsk," dedicated to the unity of national cultures. This year, the young resident of Lepel became a laureate of the first degree at the international festival of contemporary art "Avanti." Yana was among the final ten participants from Belarus at the children's competition "Slavianski Bazaar."
The young singer passed all qualifying rounds at the end of 2012 for the II Republican Creative Radio Competition "Maladyya Talenty Belarusi" (Young Talents of Belarus), organised by the First National Channel of Belarusian Radio. Third place in this competition opened up the opportunity for Yana to be included in the list of presidential scholarship holders this year. Across the republic, only five children in her age group – the first – were selected.
By the way, singing is not Yana's only passion. She is interested in many things – from the latest entries in the Guinness Book of Records to mathematical equations. Yana reads a lot and even writes a novel about school love herself.
