President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will hold talks on July 16 with President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti, who is arriving in Belarus on an official visit. BELTA was informed about this by the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The heads of state will hold meetings in a one-on-one format, as well as in an expanded format. The leaders of the two countries will discuss the state and promising areas of cooperation between Belarus and Moldova, and interaction on international platforms.

Following the talks, a number of documents are expected to be signed on cooperation and exchange of legal information, on cooperation in the industrial sector, and interregional relations.

Diplomatic relations between Belarus and Moldova were established in 1992. The contractual basis of bilateral relations consists of 65 agreements regulating economic, humanitarian, and other spheres of interaction. The countries cooperate constructively in international organizations and provide mutual support in elections to UN system bodies.

The President of Belarus paid an official visit to Moldova in September last year. The President of Moldova visited Minsk in 2013 and 2014 to participate in the meetings of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS member states.
