The Prosecutor's Office of Lepel District took measures to protect the rights of minors in connection with their mother's abuse of alcoholic beverages and filed a lawsuit with the court to deprive her of parental rights.
According to the materials of the inspection, the boys, born in 2010 and 2013, were recognised as being in a socially dangerous situation, as their mother abused alcoholic beverages and did not engage in the upbringing and maintenance of her sons. Despite the work organised with the family, the situation did not normalise.
During another visit by the commission to the family's place of residence, it was established that the situation had only worsened, and there was a real threat to the life and health of the children. In this regard, a decision was made to remove the children.
By the decision of the Lepel District Executive Committee, the minors were granted the status of children left without parental care, and they were transferred to full state provision at a social shelter.
The prosecutor established that at the minors' mother's place of residence, there were no conditions for comfortable living and the full development of the children, the mother did not realise the full seriousness of the situation, did not show due interest in the return of the children to the family, and did not eliminate the factors of family dysfunction.
Since leaving the minors with their mother was dangerous for them and not in the best interests of the minors, the Prosecutor of Lepel District filed a lawsuit with the court to deprive the woman of parental rights in respect of her sons.
In the court hearing, the defendant did not recognise the claim. She asked the court to return the children but provided no convincing arguments. She claimed that she abused alcohol due to difficult life circumstances.
The Lepel District Court granted the prosecutor's claim – the mother was deprived of parental rights in respect of her two sons, who were left in the care of their grandmother.
The decision has entered into legal force.
