17 January, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. The draft decree on waste management is under consideration by the Presidential Administration. It is expected to be issued in January. This was announced by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus, Vladimir Tsalko, in response to a question from a BELTA correspondent. In Vitebsk, the head of the department is participating in the final meeting of the regional committee for natural resources and environmental protection.
"There were many questions regarding this decree, as we wanted to make it cutting-edge. Currently, it has been coordinated and should be issued in the near future," emphasized Vladimir Tsalko.
The document will increase the responsibility of producers and importers of certain types of goods, including complex household appliances, batteries, and packaging waste, for their use. "In accordance with it, producers of complex household and other appliances, as well as importers of 10% of products that have lost their consumer properties, will be obliged to collect and hand them over for recycling or transfer certain funds, which will then be directed towards organizing the recycling of this raw material," the minister noted. "Extended producer responsibility is a European norm: if you produce it, you must recycle your waste," added Vladimir Tsalko. -0-
