Improving the support for children with disabilities in Lepel district, the results of inspections by commissions of households and apartments inhabited by disabled persons, providing assistance to such citizens in eliminating violations of safety rules, and organising tourist activities for people with disabilities – these issues were on the agenda today.
During the field part of the meeting, members of the interdepartmental council visited addresses where work on creating a barrier-free environment had already been done, as well as those houses where such work is yet to be carried out.
Work with disabled persons is based on an individual approach to each of them. The state does everything possible to ensure that people with disabilities are maximally involved in society. It is important not only to create a barrier-free environment but also to understand how a person with a disability will be able to use it. Everything must be of high quality, convenient, well-thought-out, and reliable, – noted Veronika Khombak, Deputy Chairperson of the District Executive Committee.
