The meeting was chaired by Veronika Khombak, Deputy Chairperson of the District Executive Committee, and brought together representatives of local authorities, healthcare, social services, housing and communal services, public organizations, sports and cultural spheres, education, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and other departments.
What was discussed?Implementation of the action plan for subprogram 2 "Accessible Environment for Persons with Disabilities and Physically Weakened Individuals" of the State Program "Social Protection" for 2021-2025, improvement of the quality of medical care for children with disabilities, organization of work in tourism and sports for persons with disabilities, and submission of proposals for the formation of measures for the implementation in the Republic of Belarus of the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities for 2026-2030.
- Persons with disabilities are under the constant attention of the state. They are guaranteed financial support – pensions, benefits, targeted assistance, and social services. However, it is much more important that assistance is not limited to payments: it should open the way to a full life, including work, education, medical, and psychological support. This is precisely why interdepartmental interaction is so important, when medical professionals, educators, social services, and employment agencies act as a single entity, – noted Veronika Khombak.
