Expired products were sold: Lepel District Prosecutor's Office inspected retail outlets

The Lepel District Prosecutor's Office, in the course of implementing Directive No. 2 of the President of the Republic of Belarus of December 27, 2006 "On Debureaucratization of the State Apparatus and Improving the Quality of Public Services", inspected the retail outlets of the Lepel Branch of the Vitebsk Regional Consumer Society in the town of Lepel and rural areas.

During the inspection, it was found that goods with expired shelf lives were displayed. Specifically, in 5 shops, 22 items with expired shelf lives were found in circulation.

For reference. Part 2 of Article 13.11 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus provides for liability for the sale or offer for sale of goods with expired shelf lives.

A case of selling 15 items without proper labelling was identified. According to the explanations of the manager of the said shop, knowing that the shelf life of these products had expired, she erased the information on the shelf life with acetone and put the goods up for sale.

For reference. According to clause 45 of the sanitary and epidemiological requirements for the equipment and maintenance of public catering facilities, retail outlets, and markets when handling food products, approved by Decree No. 7 of the President of the Republic of Belarus of November 23, 2017 "On the Development of Entrepreneurship", the circulation of: food products without labelling (with information applied in accordance with the requirements of the technical regulations of the Customs Union, the Eurasian Economic Union) is prohibited at the facilities.

Article 17.5 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus provides for liability for violations of sanitary and epidemiological requirements.

As a response measure, the Prosecutor of Lepel District demanded the removal of expired goods from sale, a request was sent to the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Lepel District in accordance with Article 2.16 of the Procedural and Enforcement Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offences to initiate proceedings against the individuals and legal entities that committed trade violations, and a submission was made to the Director of the Lepel Branch of the Vitebsk Regional Consumer Society to eliminate the identified violations of legislation.
