The XXI International Festival of Arts is scheduled to feature 44 events: concerts, performances, and film screenings. The main stage, the Summer Amphitheatre, will host 21 of them.
The grand opening concert of the festival will feature Irina Allegrova, Valeria, Lev Leshchenko, Boris Moiseev, Alexander Rosenbaum, the "Buranovskiye Babushki" (Buranovo Grannies), Samantha Fox, the Igor Moiseyev State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble, Alexander Rybak, Andrey Danilko's Theatre, and Anne Veski. The names of the Belarusian participants of the concert have not yet been announced. The Igor Moiseyev State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble will give a jubilee concert dedicated to the ensemble's 75th anniversary on Russia Culture Day. Andrey Danilko's Theatre will be the most prominent at the concert dedicated to Ukraine Culture Day. Traditionally, the festival will host the Union State Day.
The anniversary of a famous Russian dance ensemble will not be the only one at this year's "Slavianski Bazaar". "We are 25! Everything begins anew" - this is the title of the festive programme given by the National Concert Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus under the direction of Mikhail Finberg. Sergei Drobotenko, Maxim Dunaevsky, Victoria Pierre-Marie will perform with the orchestra's accompaniment. If Mikhail Finberg's orchestra celebrates a quarter of a century of its existence, then Lev Leshchenko celebrated a half-century anniversary of his stage career and his 70th birthday. The benefit performance of the artist loved by many will take place on the stage of the Summer Amphitheatre at "Slavianski Bazaar".
During the festival days, the Summer Amphitheatre will also host solo concerts by Valeria, Alexander Rosenbaum, Irina Allegrova, Sergei Penkin. Another venue of the festival, as is tradition, is the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall. Pelageya, Boris Moiseev will perform here, and performances of the "Theatrical Meetings" project will be held. The festival's theatrical poster consists of performances by Russian theatres, independent productions, and the M. Gorky National Academic Drama Theatre. Most of the performances are united by one thing - they feature actors whom the audience knows better from television: Alexey Panin, Zhanna Epple, Olesya Zheleznyak, Yulia Menshova. Belarusian theatrical art will be represented at the festival this year by the M. Gorky Theatre with its performance "Pane Kohanku", starring Rostislav Yankovsky. In total, more than 40 actors are involved in the performance.
The main intrigue of the festival throughout its existence is the international competition of pop song performers "Vitebsk". 21 artists from 21 countries will take part in this year's singing competition. For the first time, national qualifying rounds were held in Latvia, Estonia, and Moldova, in addition to Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. Belarus will be represented in the competition by 23-year-old Evgeny Dolich, Russia by 22-year-old Anastasia Kozlova, and Ukraine by 29-year-old Galina Konakh. The jury of the competition will be headed by composer Maxim Dunaevsky, and its members include popular performers - Alexander Tikhanovich, Alessandro Safina, Anne Veski. The children's music competition is no less intense than its elder sibling. This year, the international children's music competition celebrates its 10th anniversary. It will feature 21 young singers from 18 countries. Belarus will be represented by Evgenia Klepitskaya and Liza Muravyova, Russia by Aigul Valiullina and Anna Muzafarova, and Ukraine by Pollyanna Ryzhak and Valeria Khomenko. All six girls are winners of their national qualifying rounds. The jury of the children's competition will be headed by composer and singer Jemal Sepiashvili.
The grand closing ceremony of the festival will take place on July 18. The concert will feature Alsou, Nadezhda Babkina, Lolita, Denis Maidanov, and Soso Pavliashvili.
