Ensembles from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, and Sweden will be featured in the "Puppet Quarter" project at the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" festival. As reported to a BELTA correspondent by the "Vitebsk" Culture Centre, the performances will take place on the stage of the Belarusian "Lyalka" Theatre.
Ensembles from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, and Sweden will be featured in the "Puppet Quarter" project at the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" festival. As reported to a BELTA correspondent by the "Vitebsk" Culture Centre, the performances will take place on the stage of the Belarusian "Lyalka" Theatre.
The "Puppet Quarter" will be held in the festival city of Vitebsk for the fourth time. This year, 8 participants are registered. Sweden is represented for the first time – the "Albatros" Theatre will present the play "The Girl and the Sea Turtle," the "Lyalka" Theatre noted. "In terms of the number of participants, it has doubled over four years – we started with four ensembles."
The project will open with the play "The Bremen Town Musicians," staged by Vitebsk puppeteers. They will also present the interactive fairy tale "Merry Dorofey." Another Belarusian participant in the quarter is the Grodno Puppet Theatre, which will show the fairy tale comedy "The Frog Princess." Additionally, a solo performance based on Belarusian folklore materials will be showcased in Vitebsk. The author's project by Ivan Kirchuk, the leader of the ethno-trio "Troitsa," titled "My Little Road," is a synthesis of Belarusian cultural heritage collected over 30 years of his creative activity.
Regarding the Russian participants, the Moscow Puppet Theatre will present the buffoonery show "Let's Go!" at the "Slavianski Bazaar," and the Belgorod State Puppet Theatre will perform the miracle story titled "The Elephant." Ukraine is also represented at the forum by two ensembles – the youth animation theatre "Est" will bring the play "The White Steamer" based on Chingiz Aitmatov (the production has an age restriction of 14+), and the Rivne Regional Academic Puppet Theatre will delight children and adults with the play-game "Barmaley" based on Korney Chukovsky.
Performances will be held on the stage of Vitebsk's "Lyalka" daily until July 17th, with shows starting at 11:00 and 13:00. Evening shows will commence at 18:00 and 19:00. The theatre performances will be preceded by a happening for children and adults.
