Here, on the territory of the former military hospital in Lepel, over 200 defenders of the Fatherland are buried – soldiers and officers, as well as civilians.

The hospital operated even before the Great Patriotic War. During the occupation, there were German barracks here, and later prisoners of war were held. Historians refer to this place as a camp with undetermined classification characteristics.

And the people of Lepel recall chilling stories from their grandparents, as the civilian population was also held on the grounds of the military hospital, and mass executions were carried out.

We have no right to forget the feat of our people. Those who perished on the fronts and during partisan battles, warriors who died from wounds, and civilians simply shot by the fascists – all of them, at the cost of their lives, gave us freedom.
