May 24, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. The implementation of the National Science and Technology Park project in the field of pharmaceuticals, nano- and biotechnology "BelBiograd" has been launched in Belarus. This was reported to BELTA correspondent by the press service of the State Committee on Science and Technology.
The total area of the "BelBiograd" territory will be 167.3 hectares. Its industrial zone will be located within the China-Belarus Industrial Park as an autonomous site (sub-park). The creation of "BelBiograd" will attract $8.55 billion in foreign investment to Belarus, and more than 37,000 new jobs will be created.
In addition to "BelBiograd", other technoparks will also be developed. In total, 30 organizations were registered as residents of technoparks in 2012, and 126 new jobs were created. Br34 billion has been allocated from the national budget for the development of the material and technical base of innovation infrastructure.
The total amount of foreign currency funds transferred to Belarusian scientific and scientific-production organizations under contracts concluded with foreign partners amounted to $65 million.
In 2012, Belarus increased its export of knowledge-intensive and high-tech products by more than 3 times to $10 billion compared to the year before last. Positive dynamics of innovative development are also noted in the increase in the share of innovation-active organizations in industry - from 22.7% to 24.8%.
Over the past year, Belarus has significantly improved its position in international rankings. For example, in the World Bank's Knowledge Economy Index, the republic ranks 59th out of 146 countries (an increase of 11 positions).-0-
