The "Live to Remember" project by Lepel artist Alexey Leshchev will soon be enriched with a new painting. Following the first two parts – portraits of Great Patriotic War heroes and a collective image of a child – he is painting a new canvas. However, the conversation with Alexey began with the second part of his works.
In addition to sketches, which are located at the Borovskaya Secondary School, he completed three works by May. The central one is titled "Son of the Regiment." The painting depicts a child with a PPS (Sudaev submachine gun, 1943 model), while the second and third show children by a night campfire and in the Auschwitz concentration camp.
The title of the painting I am currently working on is under discussion. It is based on a real photograph from the Great Patriotic War era. I searched various websites and found a dynamic photograph. There are three figures – the main character and two scouts in the background. One is lying down, and the second is sitting. Both are armed with PPSh submachine guns. For compositional balance, they will be slightly blurred and thus "support" the main figure.
The main character is advancing into an attack, throwing a grenade. I will try to make the work more interesting through details. It will be dedicated to the reburial of fallen scouts in Lepel on July 2nd. The painting will be presented to foreign guests. The frame will be provided by the district branch of the Belarusian Peace Foundation.
